Patchogue and Fire Island, from our front door
Most of this is within about a mile of the house. The rest is a short drive or a short boat ride.
The bay, right out front
The house looks straight out at the Great South Bay, next to Shorefront Park and Rider Park. The Shorefront Band Shell is next door, and in summer you can watch its concerts from the patio. There's a kayak launch near the pier if you want to get out on the water. And most evenings we just sit and watch the sun go down over the bay.
Beaches
The Patchogue Beach Club has a pool and a sandy beach, and you can walk there (there's a small fee). But you aren't allowed in the water at the Beach Club. If you want to swim in the bay, go to Corey Beach, about a 9 minute drive.
Fire Island
The Davis Park ferry terminal is about half a mile from the house, roughly a 4 minute drive. Scheduled boats run to Davis Park and to Watch Hill, which is the National Park Service side, with camping and trails. We checked with the ferry company on September 9, 2026: there's no scheduled service from December through March, and in those months they'll run a water taxi on request instead. Their number is (631) 475-1665. If you only do one day trip from here, make it Fire Island.
Downtown Patchogue
Downtown Patchogue's restaurants and bars are about a mile away. It's an easy walk on a nice evening and a short drive when it isn't.
Getting here from NYC
The LIRR Montauk Branch station is about a mile from the house, on a direct line toward New York City. If you drive, the driveway fits 2 to 3 cars.
